If you’re heading to Sydney’s Lower North Shore, especially for one of the iconic Kirribilli Markets, then you’re going to want this list of the 11 best things to do in Kirribilli. As a Sydney local for over five years, Kirribilli has always been one of my favourite neighbourhoods to explore, especially in spring, when the jacaranda trees burst into bloom and the streets turn into a sea of purple petals.
Known for its timeless estates, waterfront scenery, and breezy vibe, it’s also home to Kirribilli House, the official Sydney residence of the Prime Minister, and Admiralty House, where the Governor-General stays when in town.
So, if you’re crossing the Harbour Bridge for a day trip, date day, or to explore somewhere new, here are the 11 best things to do in Kirribilli.

Things to Do in Kirribilli
I highly recommend exploring this part of Sydney, and as you’ll read ahead, you’ll know why!
1. Wander through the Blossoms on McDougall Street

You’ll know spring has arrived in Sydney when McDougall Street transforms into a dreamy tunnel of purple blooms. It’s only about 8 minutes from Milsons Point Station and is arguably one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city, thanks to the stunning canopy of Jacaranda trees.
If you’re planning to visit during peak bloom season in November, parking is nearly impossible to find (speaking from experience!). I recommend opting for public transport or a ride-share instead. And packing a picnic to make the most of your day!
2. Grab Brunch with a View at Celsius Coffee Co.

When you talk about the best waterfront cafés in Sydney, Celsius Coffee Co absolutely deserves a spot at the top. Floating above the Kirribilli Wharf, this New Hampton-style café is beloved by both locals and visitors with its exceptional food, irresistibly crispy waffles, and brewed coffee!

However, the café doesn’t take bookings (only walk-ins), and is quite small, so if you are visiting during weekends or holidays, come as early as you can or head to a nearby picnic spot, one of my absolute favourites in all of Sydney, which I’ll share with you next!
3. Plan a Dreamy Picnic Date at This Exclusive Point

If you are looking for the best picnic spots in Sydney, this is it! From this point in Kirribilli, you will get majestic views of Australia’s two most iconic architectural marvels: harbour bridge and the Opera House! It’s an exclusive vantage point that allows you to take in the grandeur of both structures, with the tranquil waters of the harbour below.
I’d highly recommend bringing along a picnic while you are here. We did this ourselves and had such a great time, packing some snacks and enjoying the views. It’s a simple yet memorable activity that captures the essence of Kirribilli and gives you a unique perspective on the beauty of Sydney!
4. Feel the Thrill at Sydney’s Iconic Luna Park

Step into a world of retro charm and non-stop fun at Luna Park, one of Sydney’s most iconic attractions. This heritage-listed amusement park sits right on the edge of the Harbour, with the Harbour Bridge towering above and the Opera House glinting across the water! In 2025, we’re excited to check out the Stranger Things Experience. Have you added it to your list of things to do in Sydney at night yet?
I’ll admit, I visited Luna Park much later than I should have… but it was worth it! You’ll find old-school Carousel and Ferris Wheel, to the more adrenaline-pumping rides that twist, turn, and even drift through the air.
5. Hunt for Unique Finds at Kirribilli Markets
Kirribilli Markets are some of the oldest and most popular markets in Sydney! It features over 220 stalls every second Sunday and fourth Saturday of the month. Hunt for fashion and accessories, amazing locally designed clothing, creative supplies, home and gift wares, plenty of food stalls, and so much more!
6. Paddle Your Way Around the Harbour in a Kayak

Experience Sydney from a unique vantage point as you paddle under the iconic Harbour Bridge! The Sydney Sunrise kayak experience is a 1.5-hour tour where you can paddle through the calm waters of Lavender Bay, past the iconic Opera House, under the Harbour Bridge, then relax with breakfast and hot coffee by the water!
It was one of the most incredible experiences we did last year. The experience includes complimentary photos too so you can really be present in the moment.
7. Get Lost in the Magic of Wendy’s Secret Garden
Wendy’s Secret Garden, not so secret anymore, has become one of Sydney’s most cherished green spaces. Once a hidden guerrilla garden, which started out as a private project by Wendy Whiteley, who began transforming this patch of overgrown railway land after the death of her husband, artist Brett Whiteley.
Over the years, it has hosted weddings, community events, and countless quiet moments of reflection. What began as a personal act of healing has grown into a stunning public garden, full of winding paths, hidden sculptures, and peaceful spots to sit and take in the harbour.
8. Take a Postcard picture from Lavender Bay
If you’re looking to unwind from the corporate rush and connect with nature, I recommend heading to Lavender Bay! With its stunning views of Sydney Harbour and peaceful atmosphere, you’re bound to capture some amazing pictures. Enjoy the quirky sculptures by Arthur ‘Art’ Barton along the foreshore, or take in the incredible views on the Lavender Bay to Kirribilli Harbourside Walk.
9. Dine Harbourside at The Flying Bear
The Flying Bear is a beloved waterfront café nestled on the wharf of the Sydney Flying Squadron in Kirribilli. Open daily from 7 am to 3 pm, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with stunning views over Careening Cove and Sydney Harbour
The menu features classic Aussie breakfasts like smashed avo on toast and bacon and egg rolls, as well as healthy options such as acai bowls and vegan falafel wraps
This is a dog-friendly place too!
10. Admire The Opera House at Beulah Street Wharf

To capture the Insta-famous lookout point, head to Beluah Street! There is an incredible spot in the corner of Kirribilli Avenue where you can see the Opera House and the Harbour. The street is located at the southernmost tip of Kirribilli and is steps away from Milsons Point Station. You’re close enough to hear the ferries pass, see the sails of the Opera House up close, and watch the city skyline light up at night.
11. Catch a Movie at The Ensemble Theatre!
If you enjoy live performances, you’ll love the Ensemble Theatre in Kirribilli. It is located right on the edge of Sydney Harbour, and this small venue is such a gem. It has been around since 1958, and hosts international plays, new Australian works, and crowd favourites!
BONUS: Swim in the North Sydney Olympic Pool!
Although the Sydney Olympic Pool is currently closed for redevelopment, it’s expected to reopen very soon! Before its closure, the complex featured a 50-metre heated pool, a 25-metre indoor pool, spa, gymnasiums, and an indoor café, though we’ll have to wait and see what exciting updates the new version brings.
With its unbeatable location next to Luna Park and beneath the Harbour Bridge, this spot boasts one of the most iconic views of Sydney Harbour. Keep it on your radar for a post-reopening visit!
